Product Description
Common useDanocrine's active component is danazol. Danazol is a man-made form of a steroid. It affects the ovaries and pituitary gland and prevents the release of certain hormones in the body. The medicine is used to treat endometriosis and fibrocystic breast disease. Danazol is also used to prevent attacks of angioedema in people with an inherited form of this disorder.
Dosage and directions
Take is exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Danazol may need to start the medication during a menstrual period. Your medication needs may change if you have unusual stress such as a serious illness, fever or infection, or if you have surgery or a medical emergency. This medication can cause you to have unusual results with certain medical tests. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are using Danazol.
Precautions
Discuss with your doctor if you have sever heart, kidney or liver disease, porphyria, abnormal vaginal bleeding, if you are pregnant, if you are allergic to any medications, if you have a history of stroke or blood clot, breast cancer; high cholesterol or triglycerides, coronary artery disease; heart disease, congestive heart failure; a seizure disorder; migraine headaches.
Contraindications
Do not use the medicine if you have allergy to danazol, porphyria, severe heart, liver or kidney problems, if you are pregnant, breast-feeding, if you have abnormal vaginal bleeding. It can cause birth defects. So use effective birth control methods.
Possible side effects
Serious side effects are sudden numbness or weakness, confusion, problems with vision, speech, or balance; chest pain, sudden cough, wheezing, rapid breathing, fast heart rate; swelling, rapid weight gain, feeling short of breath; headache, ringing in your ears, dizziness, nausea, vision problems, pain behind your eyes; or stomach pain, loss of appetite, dark urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Less serious side effects include: acne or other skin problems; increased hair growth or hair loss; weight gain; breast changes; deepened voice; nervousness; increased sweating, warmth or tingly feeling under your skin; changes in your menstrual periods; or vaginal dryness, discomfort, or itching.
Drug interaction
Before taking Danocrine tell your doctor if you take blood thinner (warfarin) or carbamazepine.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek urgent medical help if you overdosed the medicine. Overdose symptoms are weight gain, increased acne or facial hair growth, menstrual problems, or breast changes.
Storage
Store between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep out of the reach of children and away from pets.
